Moroccanoil Treatment Without Weighing Hair Down
Jordan Reed, Senior Stylist··1 min read
Argan oil treatments are beloved for a reason: they smooth, add shine, and help detangle. The difference between “glass hair” and “greasy roots” is application discipline.
Start with a pea, not a pour
Fine hair may need less than a dime-size amount; thick or curly textures may use more. Warm the oil between palms until it spreads evenly: no blobs.
Mid-lengths and ends first
Apply where natural oil is scarce. The last 10% on your hands can smooth the surface at the crown: never start at the root unless directed by your stylist.
Wet vs. dry application
On damp hair, oil helps seal moisture before blow-drying. On dry hair, use a micro-amount to polish ends and tame flyaways.
Layering order
Oil typically comes after leave-in conditioner or cream in lightweight routines; your stylist can confirm for your specific cocktail.
