Every head of hair lifts differently, and the result depends on what is already in it: natural pigment, old box dye, previous lightener, heat damage. Blonde color correction is where a specialist earns the title. Brassy orange or yellow tones, banding from overlapping lightener, patchy lift, and blonde that turned muddy after a toner faded all need a plan before anything is applied. Sometimes the answer is a gentle bleach wash, from $100, and a fresh toner. Sometimes it is a full color correction, from $365, spread over more than one visit so the hair stays strong. Healthy blonde matters more than fast blonde. We use Schwarzkopf Professional lighteners with an Olaplex bond builder in the formula, and we stop lifting when the hair tells us to, even if that means finishing the shade at a second session. Dark brown or black hair usually needs two or three sessions to reach a clean, pale blonde. Trying to do it in one sitting is how hair breaks. Your colorist will map out the sessions and the cost of each one at the consultation, so there are no surprises.
