Cutting curl wet and hoping it lands correctly once it dries is guesswork, because every curl springs up a different amount depending on its pattern and how much weight sits below it. Cutting dry means your stylist shapes each curl where it actually falls and you see the finished result before you stand up. If you have been burned by a salon that cut your hair wet and handed you a shape that looked nothing like the consultation, this is the difference.

Consultation comes first, and it is not a formality. Your stylist needs to know your curl pattern, how much shrinkage you get, whether you diffuse or air dry, how often you wash, and what your hair does in August when the humidity climbs. San Antonio sits humid enough through the summer that a cut which relies on a smooth blow-dry to look right will not survive the walk to the car. We shape for how your hair behaves at home, not for how it looks under salon lighting with a diffuser in hand.

For hydration and repair we book deep conditioning with blowout from $110, Olaplex 4c Hair Treatment from $40, and conditioning masks from $20. Olaplex rebuilds the internal bonds that heat and chemical services break down, which matters if you have coloured or previously relaxed hair alongside your natural texture. A scalp treatment is worth considering if you wear protective styles regularly and get buildup or tenderness between takedowns. We carry Olaplex, Redken, Moroccanoil, and amika, and your stylist will tell you which two or three products are actually worth your money rather than sending you home with a full shelf.

If you want your texture smoothed rather than defined, there are three routes and they are not interchangeable. A silk press from $150 is heat only, lasts until your next wash, and leaves your curl pattern intact. Keratin Complex and Brazilian Blowout both start from $350, are chemical, and loosen frizz and curl for roughly three to five months. Perms run from $200 in the other direction if you want more curl than you were born with. Relaxers are consultation only, because putting a relaxer over previously treated hair is how breakage happens and we will not do it blind.
